On the surface, it would seem that Michael Pierce now has the perfect job, but a few years ago, after selling his successful computer business, he was searching for another entrepreneurial adventure.

Seizing upon an idea that he thought would be fun as well as lucrative, he assembled the Extreme Bikini Team. The idea was to use a group of physically fit women to attract sponsors and promote these sponsors' products.

Michael, who is married and has two young children (Samantha, 4 and Sabrina, 2), has often been asked about the reaction at home when he broke the news of his new venture to wife Jill. "She was very supportive," said Pierce. Sure.

But when asked, Jill confirmed Michael's answer. "As I recall, I told him I thought it was a good idea," Jill said. "I didn't have any problem with it at all." Say what, Jill? Sainthood awaits.

Michael explains that it helps to run this type of enterprise if you have a special relationship at home. "If I were single, I could see where there might be a problem being surrounded by these women on a regular basis," he said. "But I was lucky enough to marry a woman who is also my best friend. This removes any potential problems that could occur."

It should also be pointed out that Michael and Jill first met at the gym where, at the time, she was training for an upcoming triathlon and bench pressing about 340 lbs. And, even after two children (with another on the way this spring), she still regularly participates in marathons. So, maybe there's also a fear factor involved? Michael smiled and said, "I wouldn't totally rule it out."

As an active member of the VCA-Illinois and the owner of a red GTS with silver stripes, Michael has combined his company and his hobby to benefit local charities in the Chicago area.

For the past two years, the VCA and Extreme Bikini Team have raised more than $5,000 for the Leukemia Society of America. And Michael does much of the groundwork to set up the individual events — from arranging for a meeting place to acting as master of ceremonies for the fundraising auction.

Still, all good things must come to an end and Michael found a buyer for the Extreme Bikini Team. He still has a great job, though, because he stayed on to run the show.

"I sold the team because another venture I'm involved in is in the middle of an IPO," he said. "Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time, but the Team is still going to prosper."

Hmmm, wonder if Mike needs any managers? All you need is a few extra bucks and the desire to be surrounded by a large group of extremely attractive women.
